Netflix presents its original productions from the German speaking region, among them the non-fiction true crime series on the Söring case, produced by Fruitmarket

In its content remote show Netflix has given an outlook on their german production slate for 2022. Among other factual productions, Inga Leschek, the newly appointed Director Nonfiction for DACH, CEE and Russia presented a true crime series on Jens Söring, produced by Fruitmarket:

The multi-award-winning documentary producer Arne Birkenstock used exclusive access to the main character Jens Söring for the production and, together with the directors Lena Leonhardt and Andre Hörmann, opens up completely new perspectives on the spectacular criminal case that continues to captivate people around the world today.”

Jens Soering was conviceted in 1990 in Virginia (USA) of murdering the parents of his then-girlfriend, Elizabeth Haysom. Soering confessed to the murders during police interrogation but pleaded not guilty at his trial and revoked his confession. After 33 years in prison, fourteen denied parole requests and numerous unsuccessful petitions for a gubernatorial pardon, Soering was granted Parole in November 2019 and deported to Germany, where he lives now.
