FRUITMARKET ARTS AND MEDIA was a multi award winning film production company based in Cologne, Germany from 2004 until 2025.

Since its foundation in 2004 until its closure in 2025, Fruitmarket has developed and produced numerous theatrical documentaries, series and transmedia projects with acclaimed directors like  Uli Gaulke, Dan Gordon, Tonje Hessen Schei, André Hörmann, André Krummel, Lena Leonhardt, Michael Madsen, Florian Opitz, Milo Rau, Yasemin Samdereli, Enrique Sánchez Lansch, Regina Schilling, Michael Schmitt, Marcus Vetter, Pablo Ben Yakov and Arne Birkenstock.

 Our productions have been awarded with numerous national film awards and were successful worlwide in box office, television, platforms and festivals like Berlinale, Venice, IFF Rotterdam, CPH:DOX, Sheffield, HotDocs, Locarno, IDFA, DokLeipzig, GZ Doc, Montreal, Yamagata and others.

We cooproduced with broadcasters, platforms, financing-, distribution- and coproduction partners from all over the world, brought together strong international teams with experienced talents and developed new distribution and marketing strategies for documentaries.

Latest releases have been “TILL MURDER DO US PART - SOERING VS. HAYSOM“ on Netflix, „STASI FC“ in Cinemas and on Sky Documentaries, "CAPITAL B - WHO OWNS BERLIN“ on Arte and the theatrical documentaries „POL POT DANCING“, „GOLDHAMMER" and „CENTURY OF WOMEN“.

For Health reasons Arne Birkenstock has to close down Fruitmarket in 2025.Arne Birkenstock still is available for script and strategic project development, creative producing and consulting.
