Marcel Goldammer, a retired gay sex worker, wants to enter politics and get to the top quickly. Not just out of conviction, but above all because it works. And he wants to join the New Right. However, Marcel leads his life less down to earth than cosmopolitan, less conservative than queer, he is not the typical redneck, but an intellectual without a degree and a bon vivant with drug problems. Born a German Christian, he now lives as a Jewish Israeli in Tel Aviv and Berlin, in a relationship with a young Shanghai man whose seemingly endless wealth makes Marcel's extravagant lifestyle possible. GOLDHAMMER looks behind the façade of a millennial, who on his way to becoming a populist. It traces a biography that could hardly be more contradictory - but for this very reason seems to fit perfectly into our times.

“After "Lord Of The Toys", André Krummel and Pablo Ben Yakov once again take a multi-layered look at late-modern attitudes to life, their economics and media abysses. "Goldhammer" is a provocative, cleverly staged portrait of a self-promoter and an outstanding contemporary document.”
FILMSTARTS.DE

"Sure: in Goldhammer, the directors once again offer a stage to a dubious protagonist, as the critics already accused them of doing with Lord of the Toys. But it is, as in the previous film, a controversial and productive stage with a double bottom.“
