Fruitmarket Kultur und Medien GmbH was founded by Arne Birkenstock in 2004, with the purpose of developing consultancy modules for the arts and the media, and for the production of high quality documentaries for cinema and television. Customers include the Adolf-Grimme Institute, the German Federal Ministry of the Family and ZDF/ARTE and WDR.

“12 Tangos – Adios Buenos Aires”, a documentary produced by Fruitmarket, has been on show in German cinemas very successfully since December 2005, distributed by Kinostar with 7 prints. The Era New Horizons International Film Festival in Warschau, The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival Seoul, The Monterrey International Film Festival screened it, as well as The Cinemania Festival in Sofia and The International Filmfestival in Kalkutta will do in November. Until now about 40.000 people saw it in cinemas. The film will be broadcasted by ARTE in 2006, and sold to several broadcasters all over the world.

Further projects for various TV stations are currently in production:

For a four-part TV-serial for WDR, Deutsche Welle TV and the Shanghai Media Group we will accompany German teenagers during their one year school-exchange in China, living in Chinese families and visiting Chinese schools.

In coproduction with the Swiss production company Dschoint Ventschr we are producing the historical cinema documentary by Mathias Haentjes about the adventurer Walter Bosshard and his „endless journey“ to China in the thirties.

We are developing a cinema documentary (director: Arne Birkenstock) about “Chandani, the daughter of the elephant whisperer”, which is expected to be produced in 2007.
Besides Arne Birkenstock is shooting the documentary „Die Sandkastenkrieger“ (The kindergarden soldiers) as a Grand Format for ZDF/ARTE.

Fruitmarket Kultur und Medien GmbH has its own postproduction facilities, including an AVID Media Composer and a Final Cut HD Pro editing suite in an HD environment, as well as hard- and software for high quality colour corrections and 3D-animations.
